Continuing the train theme (not intentionaly), we had a great time on the Holiday Express with the Leibenbows and Motherways.

Trip East

We had a wonderful visit with my family in Philadelphia this past weekend. Julianna was not without someone holding here the entire time, and Roman would not let the cold deter him from getting outside to inspect all the leaves on the ground.

Model Trains - Columbia Gorge Club

Train Day part II. We finally made it to the Columbia Gorge Model Train Club. They are only open during November weekends. It's quite a spectacle; Roman was transfixed (so was Dad).

Fall Visitors

My sister Agnes and her family came to visit the second weekend of October. The following weekend my Mom and Dad came down from Seattle for a visit before heading off to the Philippines for the winter. Roman and Julianna will miss Lola and Lolo (Grandma and Grandpa Alejandrino)...or in Roman's words he'll miss "Oula". We'll see them again in the Spring! - Andrea

Julianna has arrived!

We have a new baby girl!

Please welcome Julianna Alejandrino Maxfield born yesterday, August 4 at 3:32 pm in a super fast labor and delivery. She is 7 lbs 11 oz and 20 in long. We are so happy she is finally here. She is doing great!

July 2010...the longest month

As Peter mentions below, no news of a baby arrival yet, but here is an update. I just realized I've been a bit of a slacker on blog updates unlike the last pregnancy with Roman. Sorry about that, but what can I say, life with Roman while being pregnant again has been all consuming.

My due date is still one week away, but I've been very ready to meet my new baby girl for some time now. Two weeks ago during my weekly OB appointment they told me I was nearly 4 cm dilated...in medical speak, that's just about time for active labor. I had my parents come down to Portland from Seattle a week early just in case baby came early...and I was so sure she would.

Here we are two weeks later and still no baby. She keeps on dropping lower and lower and my belly keeps getting bigger and bigger, though please don't tell me I'm getting huge. Seems every other person I encounter these days keeps reminding me of how large I'm getting (note, pregnant women don't want to hear this). Someone even pointed out to me that I must be having twins... ugh. Yesterday a woman at a coffee shop commented that I'm brave to be having two kiddos so close to each other, but I look fabulous for being this far along, this made my day. Ah well, in the long run it's much better for baby come later than earlier, I know she's gaining strength each day because those kicks and jabs are getting stronger. Though not so fun when Roman kicks my belly from the outside and she kicks her big brother back from the inside. Oh my, is this what I have to look forward to?

Susan & Bill visit - May 2010

Mom & Dad visited this weekend. Against bad weather, we had a great time just hanging out and letting Roman do the entertaining.

Train Day 2010

National Train Day at Union Station. We were treated to Portland's own Southern Pacific 4449, a world-famous steam engine (link).

Roman's First Birthday

This past week Roman had his first birthday! We celebrated with the family up in Seattle, amid plenty of home-made cupcakes.

Roman is nearly a year old, and every day there's something new. He's starting to share food and toys, as well as walk along furniture without much support at all. If only he would sleep a solid 10 hours :)
