20 Weeks and counting...

Today I am officially half way through this pregnancy with only 20 more weeks to go (unless he decides to make his entrance sooner). Earlier this week we had our big ultra sound to measure all the major body parts and ensure his development is on track. It is such a relief to see there are 10 fingers, 10 toes, a strong heat beat (155 beats per minute) and active arms and legs. He's been kicking up a storm lately so Peter is hopeful we have a future soccer player in the making. He measures 7 inches long (crown of head to bottom) and weighs around 12 ounces.

Whew! It always a little nerve wracking going into the ultrasound room for fear that you may see something wrong in the image, but I have to say from this view point he's looking oh so cute with the exception of the head on shot of the face. No one prepares you for how bizarrely alien your child looks. All you see is a scull outline and eyes bugging in and out of the eye sockets. Scary.

We're having a boy!

We are thrilled to finally know the gender of the little 2.0 project and the reality of having a baby is starting to sink in. I'm 18 weeks pregnant and so far it's been a pretty smooth pregnancy. Aside from the minor aversion to the smell of chicken and fried eggs and frequent napping, all is well.

Here is a picture of our little guy, the sonographer could tell this was a boy right away but I have no idea how. In the top picture you can see a spine and an outline of his head and in the bottom picture are his legs and his cute little feet. Somehow in this picture you might be able to tell that this is a boy, but I'm not quite sure which appendage it is. Ultrasounds are still a bit of a puzzle to figure out.

Now that we know the gender we can get down to some serious baby planning. First things first, a name. We're struggling with this, so if you have any ideas send them along.
